Beliveau, Jokela win Race the Runways Half Marathon

John Beliveau, 32, of Portland and Anja Jokela, 29, of Burlington, Vt., paced a field of more than 400 runners Saturday to win their divisions at the Race the Runways Half Marathon in Brunswick.

Beliveau finished the course in 1 hour, 15 minutes and 34 seconds, beating Nathan Mackenzie, 18, of Bowdoinham by 23 seconds. Jokela’s time of 1:26:33 was nearly two minutes faster than runner-up Katie Bush, 25, of Portland (1:28:29).

Jesse Young, 24, of Rochester, N.H., won both the mile and the 5K, with times of 4:39 and 15:39. Tahlia Mullen, 12, of Walpole was the first female in the mile with a time of 6:06, and Leslie Munnelly, 51, of Bath edged Lauren Phillips, 28, of Cape Elizabeth in the 5K women’s division by nine seconds with a time of 19:42.
